Well the day got off to a different start today. At 7:20 I was awakened by a phone call from the nurse that they needed to get my OK! to put a feeding line into Danny's stomach , also with the witness of another nurse because I again wasn't able to be there due to the flu. It is the same thing that our friend Howard Adams had in his.
You know this might sound strange but I had the thought cross my mind that Danny must have made a pact with GOD to do something to me to keep me away from the hospital so I wouldn't have to go through all that I was. I say that because I have never to my knowledge had a cold or flu hang on like this one has, I have always shaken them off pretty quick, but this one will just not let go. At 10:00 AM I went to the Drug Store and got some Robitussin DM to see if it will help get rid of the congestion now.
A nurse just called at 1:34 PM to double check about the fact I had given the OK! for the feeding tube to be put in this morning, so they are getting ready to do it now it would seem. I called the hospital at 9:00 PM to se how Danny was doing and they said the implant of the feeding tube went fine and they will start the feeding tomorrow.

There is nothing new to report on Danny, he is still in stable condition a and doing well for the shape he in in. Everyone in the Family and Friends that call or e-mail send their LOVE & PRAYERS to Danny.
Mike Hughes stopped by yesterday after taking care of business at the RV Park to see how I was doing and to get Danny's Bible to take to the hospital today to read to him. Mike is a really nice quiet kind of a guy and doesn't let his feelings show much. But I feel he is hurting seeing and knowing how Danny was and now how he is. They would go to lunch at least once a week when possible, for the longest time now. We have known Mike and Toni for about 9 years or so, We were living at the RV Park when they bought it and made it into a real nice place (it used to an old fish camp). ALSO: As it turns out Toni caught the same thing I have while at the hospital last Saturday with Mike to see Danny, and she still has the chest congestion also.
Hi ALL! I just got a call from the nurse at about 1:00 PM and she said Danny is starting to respond a little by trying to move his mouth to talk but still can't, so they gave him a pin and paper so he could try and write and still has no control there either, they have brought in a therapist. They said that after all this time and stages of this flu that I have gone through that I can go up and see him tomorrow but that I have to scrub and ware a mask. THANK GOD!!
After the nurse called I called Mike and he went on over to see Danny. Mike said he it was good to see Danny coming around and that he tried to read to him a bit till it came to a part that was starting to sound depressing. He then told Danny he knew he felt bad enough without hearing that so he stopped and just tried talking to him. He said Danny began trying to tell him something but he was unable to tell what he was wanting and that maybe I would have better luck making him out tomorrow when I get there. I really THANK Mike for stepping in as he has.
I also called Richie today to let him know how hid dad was and he said that there was something weird happened to him at work today, he is to try and put it in an e-mail and I'll add it here.
My Dad called me on 3-21-04 He prayed with me on the phone and told me to start looking for Miracles. He told me to write the date down that we prayed, So I did.
4-10-04 Today about 1:00pm I went out to take a break on the loading dock where I work at Houndslake Country Club.
As soon as I walked out the door I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, because it was so nice out. At that moment I was overcome with chills and a feeling that God, The power of Love was all around me. When ever I feel that kind of Peace, I know that The Power (God) is with me. So I talked directly to him and told him to heal my Dad. Then I projected the power within me straight to my Dad, And said Father Get Up. After this I felt everything would be ok.................
I got home about 2:30pm and went right to bed, I was very tired from a long day at work. About 3:00pm my mom called I hadn't got to sleep yet. She then told me the nurse called and said my dad was awake and responding and trying to talk. This is my Miracle, Thank you ..God....................Love Richie Husk

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!! My Easter Present was that Danny came back to us. I have been up there all day and was only away from Danny for about two hours while they did physical therapy and while Mike went in to see him for a while, Toni came also but didn't go in due to still having a cold.
He kept trying to talk but couldn't make us understand but a few things. Most of that was found out by asking multiple questions then he would shake his head yes or no. I had even given him pin a pad to try and write but he is still to shaky. BOY! for being dead to the world for 16 days and AWAKE all of a sudden as he has WOW! what a change. Danny has also lost most ALL of the extra body fluid build up.
I had taken my bag into ICU with the phones in it. A call came from Judy and I held the phone to his ear and he got upset and started to crying, he kept trying to take the phone so he could hold it and talk. I found out after that by asking questions, that it hurt him to much now to hear people call and him not be able to talk back to them. So I turned the phones off so he wouldn't be bothered after the second call came in and he waved his hand NO! at me to don't give him the phone. "THANK GOD HE IS BACK".
At one point today the TV was on to AMC with old movie clips and Danny punched me and did a thumbs up for me to look at the TV, they were showing Buddy Holly clips where Gary Busey played him in The Buddy Holly Story, we had just before Danny came into the hospital watcher a Bio of Gary.
When I was talking to Danny I had mentioned that I was going to leave about 4 PM and would you know at 3:45 Danny punched me to remind me what time it was and that I had to go to be home before dark. As I started to leave he mouthed to me "be careful & I love you".
Mike just called after going to see Danny again this evening after I had come on home. He said he was still quite alert and still trying to get his point across to him also with no more success than I but at least he was trying. Mike gave Danny a paper and pin also with no luck. BUT! Mike said he thought it might be a good idea to take Danny's Lap Top up to him. Like he said that is Danny and he could connect to that better and quicker. So tomorrow goes the Lap Top and we will see what happens. Mike said compared to last night Danny is a whole lot more alert and aware which I saw today. Mike said that while he was in with Danny they took him off the respirator to see how he would do fully on his own "it was a little harder but he did it OK!".

Well! Danny tried to go out on us again last night. At about 2:30 he went into what they called "V-tac" Ventricular Tachycardia http://health.discovery.com/diseasesandcond/encyclopedia/70.html they used the paddles to shock him back. They got him stable but then about 7:30 he started it again but this time he recovered on his own they said. The Dr. came in this morning and said he wanted them to changing Danny's Tracheotomy to a different one, and the one after it would be the one so he could talk. The Lung Dr. was also there and said his lungs sounded good. Also the physical therapy guy was there and put him through the paces twice today and had him still in bed with it folded into a lounge chair position for two hours, he started getting tired like that so they let him off with an hour and 45 minuets. They also have a Quick-Comb = Pacing/Defibrillation/ECG/Electrodes on him. This link has some different kinds http://www.aedsuperstore.com/ and WOW! the cost of them.
Danny wasn't in as good a mood today as yesterday after last night. I had been there the whole time looking out for him wiping YUCK from the Tracheotomy, and catching and wiping spit all day, rubbed his hands and feet with lotion, brushed a week plus of matted rats out of his hair. About 2:30 I started coughing, still wearing the mask so I told Danny I needed to go because I was feeling sick and didn't need to be in there if I was going to start coughing again. At 3:00 I told him I was leaving, at that time it was ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT TIME (He just shrugged his shoulders, rolled his eyes and mouthed "WHATEVER" at that point I needed an "ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT" I just politely turned and walked away and didn't look back! I know he is in bad shape at this point but "I have feelings also". Danny can be a bear when he is sick. GOD knows I LOVE HIM though attitude & ALL!

I was up in the middle of the night and checked my e-mail while I was up and had a one from a niece in Belpre, Ohio/Parkersburg, WVa. which goes along with what happened yesterday. Becky's husband Mike was real bad off like Danny also a while back so Becky has been through it also.
This was also the last entry in the Prayer /note pages. Updates on Danny will follow this as I get them today.

Hi Aunt Gloria, Hang in there. I know when they
can't get through what the what it is frustrating to them and the best
thing to do is to walk away. They will forgive you. Mom, Dad and Grandma
wanted me to say that they are saying prayers for you both. Mike and I
are also so keeping Uncle Dan in our prayers. Give him all of our love
and best wishes. God is watching over Uncle Dan and holding his
hand through this.

Thanks Hon, It
has so hard the past week not being able to see or talk to him or he to
me.
It in a way was as though he was
already gone and being here in this house alone without
him here to call to with a thought or a program on TV he would have
wanted to see or something on the
computer to look at, WELL it just gave a good idea what it would be like
to not have him around at all and "THAT
STINKS" I pray God that doesn't happen.
It has just been a little much having
Danny sick and me driving 60 mile/ hour and a half each way to
be there with him and then me get sick WELL IT IS A BIT TO MUCH at
times. BUT! I know somehow the LORD
will see US through it in the end. But
in the mean time I have got to try and split my time like every other
day or something so it won't be so
hard.
The one thing with Danny is I have
always given him his way all of the time and spoiled him to the
fact that I'm ALWAYS THERE for him at his beckon call or every move.
Now that he has come around he is
acting as though I have to be right there for his every need.
But that is what the hospital and the
nurses and Dr's are getting the big bucks for.
Mike and I are all he has that
want to have to do with him in the condition he is in, others
ask how is he, if he was able to talk or knows I'm there I'd go see
him. It's times like this you know
the TRUE FRIENDS and the USERS.
Well I got to get back to bed and try
to get some more sleep, C. J. got me up to go potty
at 3:30. tomorrow/today is another
day. GOD WILLING! Love

I just at 10:20 PM called to see how Danny was doing and the nurse said he was doing fine after a long prosperous day and to give him a better rest for the night they took him off the air and put him back on the respirator and that tomorrow they were going to try a different Tracheotomy.

WELL!! Folks another RED LETTER DAY Danny was taken out of the bed at about 10:30 AM and sat in the lounge chair till about 1:30 PM then was helped back into the bed.

Both of his Dr's today said "TOMORROW" that CHEST DRAINAGE TUBE'S come out, along with the STOMACH STITCHES and CLAMPS from the by-pass, plus his leg has already healed from the vain removal for the by-pass.
