I pulled out a back e-mail with this BEAUTIFUL Heron that Jack took one day.
From the boat yesterday...a Great Blue Heron sunning
himself or cooling his HOT WINGS??
I never saw one do this before!!

Well......will wonders never cease??
Once again the Sun crested the trees at Brickyard Point and then pierced the ground fog through the trees on our side of the River.......VERY NICE AGAIN!! The light at the landing always looks like a "CROSS LIGHTING THE WAY" as one person on Jacks list said.
I managed to catch a Great Blue Heron yesterday as he made "splash down" in the shallows of our mudflat to begin his day of fishing!!
Here it is Columbus Day 2010 and while I was watching the day unfold with the Sun's rays reaching high into the dark blue sky over Brickyard Point, I saw a VERY RARE event unfold right before my eyes!! Two of our local Great Blue Herons (Harvey & Lisa) were doing a perfectly choreographed "Mudflat Minuet"....ABSOLUTELY AMAZING......WOW!!! They "danced" for about 10 minutes and then went back to fishin' for breakfast!!

Lisa, the Great Blue Heron (could have been Harold....it's hard to tell 'em apart unless they are dancing....Harold usually leads) was stalking breakfast in the shallows of the mudflat and did something I've never seen before?? She (he) hunkered down in the "Stealth Mode" disguised as a DUCK or LOON to fool the poor unsuspecting fish who fear Herons terribly!! Nice going there Lisa......or Harold??
The sky finally got a little colorful over
Brickyard as a Sailboat made his way North on the ICW?? Ya need to go SOUTH this
time of year even if it is unseasonably WARM!! They are predicting mid to upper
80's today!!
Happy Tuesday!!

Heavy clouds were piled up on the Eastern horizon and Lisa, the Great Blue Heron found Herman, the Snowy Egret and they became "Fishin' Buddies" right there in front of me on the mudflat.......I wonder what Harold will have to say about this development??
Happy Thursday!! Jack Howison - Beaufort, SC
