Carrabelle Florida Area's Run In With Him

After the first round of Dennis came rolling in we went up to the end of our street that looks out over the park to see how it was going. To our horror and disbelief where was something we had never been able to see before. The water was across the road as we knew it always did, as just a kind of wash or flow over it the ground. But OH MY GOD we weren't prepared for what was happening. After Earl hit in 1998 I went to check on the park and stood in 4 inches of water in the laundry room on the phone to Mike in Tallahassee to let him know that the water was a wash and the dock was damaged, it wasn't taken in because they said it wasn't going to be to bad but Earl turned just enough to make a difference, Just as Dennis bumped up to a Category 4.

After the last photo in the above row we went back down to our house and walked to the end of our street and looked up and down the road and what a mess it was. Back toward the park was everything from it and a couple of homes one on each side of the park. The one on the far side had a fifth wheel camper (I say had) there was NOTHING left but part of the frame. The house next door lost their storage building which was out at the edge of the road and their big fishing boat which was under the house was washed across the road into the ditch.
